Terms of Service
MailFlare, by MailFlare Labs. Effective 15 October 2026.
These terms govern your use of the MailFlare application ("MailFlare" or "the app"), provided by MailFlare Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using MailFlare you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. What MailFlare is
MailFlare is a macOS application that monitors your Gmail account, using permissions you grant, and displays alerts for messages that match rules you configure. It runs entirely on your computer. We do not operate servers that receive your email or account data.
2. Your Google account
MailFlare works by connecting to your Google account through Google's authorization system. Your use of Gmail and your Google account remains subject to Google's own terms and policies. You may revoke MailFlare's access at any time from within the app or from your Google account settings. We handle the data MailFlare accesses as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use MailFlare on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with these terms and, if you obtained the app from the Mac App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, or resell the app except where the law expressly permits it.
4. Acceptable use
Use MailFlare only with accounts you are authorised to access, and in compliance with applicable law and with Google's and Apple's terms. Don't use it to monitor another person's mailbox without their permission.
5. Alerts are best-effort
MailFlare relies on Google's services, your network, your rules, and your Mac being awake and running the app. It may miss, delay, or mis-classify messages. Do not rely on MailFlare as the sole means of being notified about anything safety-, legally-, or financially-critical.
6. No warranty
MailFlare is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MailFlare Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to zero.
8. Changes to the app or these terms
We may update MailFlare, change or discontinue features, or revise these terms. Material changes to the terms will be posted at this address with a new effective date; continued use after that date means you accept the revised terms.
9. Termination
You may stop using MailFlare at any time by signing out and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your right to use the app if you breach these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MailFlare Labs is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
